Dr. Jessica Epley Burchette

Jessica is from Newport, where she graduated from Cocke County High School. She is a graduate of Tusculum College and holds a degree in biology with a medical concentration.

Jessica graduated from the East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, earning the doctor of pharmacy degree. She served as class vice-president, and was a founding member of Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity. Jessica was selected as a “National Walmart Scholar.” She received the “Mylan Pharmaceuticals Excellence in Pharmacy Award.” She completed a residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, and a residency in internal medicine at the East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy.

Jessica currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, East Tennessee State University. She was voted Outstanding Clinical Preceptor for 2015/2016 by the class of 2017 and received ETSU’s 2023 Distinguished Faculty Award in Teaching, the highest award given at any university. She was invited to be the commencement speaker for the East Tennessee State University’s 2023 graduation ceremony. She received the Business Journal of the Tri Cities 40 under 40 award. Jessica, her husband Darrin and their children, Sadie and Tate, reside in Johnson City.

    The Niswonger Foundation was established in 2001 to make a positive and sustainable difference in education in Northeast Tennessee. This dream was envisioned by Scott M. Niswonger, who founded Landair Transport, Inc. and Forward Air Corporation. These companies were the first two Greeneville-based companies to be taken public in the history of Greene County, Tennessee. Jointly, the companies have combined annual revenue of over one-billion-dollars and employ more than 5000 people.
