Niswonger Foundation Annual Counselor Convening
Offers “Inspired” Theme
Providing quality professional development to support the efforts of our high school counselors continues to be a major focus of the work of the Niswonger Foundation. Through our annual “Counselor Convening” we are able to bring together our NiswongerCARE advising staff along with the region’s school counselors, the financial aid and admissions counselors from the post-secondary institutions, and other college access professionals for an opportunity to refine their skills and build networks.
The Niswonger Foundation will host the Third Annual School Counselor Convening on Monday, June 27, 2016, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at Northeast State Community College. The theme for this year’s Convening is “Inspired,” in honor of the commitment of our school counselors to ensure that students in Northeast Tennessee graduate from high school prepared for post-secondary education, and on a successful career path.
This year’s keynote speaker is Kim Weitkamp. As a humorist, consultant, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, she shares her story and encourages others to do the same.
