Michael Alexander Smyth

Alex, the son of Mike and Michele Smyth, graduated as Valedictorian from West Greene High School. He was president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the First Priority Club. He was vice president of both his senior class and the Student Council, secretary of the National Honor Society, captain of the Round Robin and Scholar Bowl teams, and the student representative for West Greene on the Greene County School Board.

Alex graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Mathematics. He completed his student teaching at South Greene High School. He is a member of the Mathematics Honor Society, Kappa Mu Epsilon, and he served as an Admissions Ambassador for ETSU. He received the Robert Noyce Scholarship and Internship, and the Math and Science Scholars Award. He serves as a youth leader in his home church of Brown Springs Baptist.

Alex completed an M.S. degree in Mathematics through Emporia State University. He was named the 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year at West Greene High School, where he taught Mathematics after completing his undergraduate degree. He worked for a year as a Data Analyst at Walters State Community College. He has returned to West Greene High School as a full time Math Teacher.  He, his wife, Macy and their children, James and Audrey reside in Mosheim.
