Courtney, daughter of Michelle Johnson, graduated Valedictorian from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School. She was a member of the National Beta Club, officer in the Interact Club, and National Latin Club, and active member of the Math Club. Courtney has been involved in several volunteer activities at both nursing homes and homeless shelters. She was selected as Sevier County’s Most Distinguished Young Woman for the 2014-2015 year and received the Tennessee’s Most Distinguished Young Women Scholastic Award. She was a captain for the GPHS dance team.
Courtney is a graduate of Maryville College and holds a degree in Exercise Science. She earned her Physical Therapy degree at South College. She works as a Physical Therapist at Pro Therapy in Sevierville, Tennessee, where she and her husband, Austin and their daughter reside. She is co-creator of a program through the senior center in Sevierville that offers physical therapy assistance to patients with Parkinson’s Disease.
The Niswonger Foundation was established in 2001 to make a positive and sustainable difference in education in Northeast Tennessee. This dream was envisioned by Scott M. Niswonger, who founded Landair Transport, Inc. and Forward Air Corporation. These companies were the first two Greeneville-based companies to be taken public in the history of Greene County, Tennessee. Jointly, the companies have combined annual revenue of over one-billion-dollars and employ more than 5000 people.
