Lucas Edward Deloach

A native of Elizabethton, Lucas graduated from Elizabethton High School. He is the son of Doug and Beth Deloach. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, with a degree in Political Science and Philosophy. While at Vanderbilt, Lucas was co-president of the university’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and a service leader with the Office of Active Citizenship and Service.

Lucas graduated from the University of Virginia, School of Law, where he received a merit scholarship. During his time at UVA, Lucas participated in a clinical program, supervised by the Legal Aid Justice Center, where he assisted low income individuals in employment law matters. He was a research assistant to Professor George Rutherglen and a summer associate with PennStuart in Abingdon, Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee. Lucas also authored a third-year paper evaluating Professor Michael Klarman’s thesis regarding political backlash to judicial intervention in civil rights movements. After law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable James P. Jones, United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.

Lucas currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. He is associate employment counsel at Upwork in Chicago. Previously, he was an associate with Littler-Mendelson and Seyfarth-Shaw. He is a member of the Stonewall Bar Association and the National LGBT Bar Association.
