Kaitlyn Shields Arnold

Katie is a graduate of Pigeon Forge High School, where she ranked first in her class and maintained a 4.0 grade point average. She is the daughter of Brigitte Shields of Pigeon Forge and William Shields of Sevierville. While at Pigeon Forge, Katie served as President of the Leo Club, treasurer of National Honor Society, vice president of Beta Club and as an officer in Future Farmers of America. She attended Governor’s School for Prospective Teachers at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. She lettered in basketball, softball and cross country. She volunteered with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, and her local soup kitchen.

Katie graduated from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a degree in Agriculture. She received the Future Farmers of America American Degree in 2014. She completed an internship with Farm Credit Mid-America. She served as a delegate to the 20th Anniversary America’s Promise Summit in 2017.

Katie accepted a position at Jefferson County High School as an Agriculture Education teacher. Her duties include overseeing their horticulture program of study, teaching Agriscience, Honors Agriscience, Greenhouse Management, and Landscape & Turf-grass Management. She advises the Jefferson County FFA students. She previously taught Math and Agriculture at Northview Academy in Kodak. She, her husband Justin, and sons, Jackson and Stetson reside in Dandridge.

    The Niswonger Foundation was established in 2001 to make a positive and sustainable difference in education in Northeast Tennessee. This dream was envisioned by Scott M. Niswonger, who founded Landair Transport, Inc. and Forward Air Corporation. These companies were the first two Greeneville-based companies to be taken public in the history of Greene County, Tennessee. Jointly, the companies have combined annual revenue of over one-billion-dollars and employ more than 5000 people.
