Dr. Bethany Fillers

Bethany Fillers is an educational leader and improvement specialist with seventeen years of experience in K-12 education.  She is passionate about helping teams, organizations, and networks reach their improvement goals through the practical use of improvement science and systematic professional learning.  She currently serves as Director of Professional Learning for the Niswonger Foundation’s Rural LIFE Initiative, which provides regional support to East Tennessee schools for improvement in middle grades literacy instruction utilizing personalized learning practices.  Previous work includes leadership of a statewide networked improvement community (Tennessee Early Literacy Network), Tennessee Department of Education literacy consultant, high school administrator, and middle school teacher.  Since 2017, she is recognized as a change management and leadership expert through Catalyst:Ed, a national partner serving to help organizations innovate, excel, and scale improvement efforts across various contexts.

    The Niswonger Foundation was established in 2001 to make a positive and sustainable difference in education in Northeast Tennessee. This dream was envisioned by Scott M. Niswonger, who founded Landair Transport, Inc. and Forward Air Corporation. These companies were the first two Greeneville-based companies to be taken public in the history of Greene County, Tennessee. Jointly, the companies have combined annual revenue of over one-billion-dollars and employ more than 5000 people.
